One-on-One
Student Coaching:
One-on-one student coaching offers personalized instruction for executive functioning skills. As pre-teens and adolescents pull away from their parents, an outside coach can help reach students who need help. This approach is especially useful when challenges impact the caregiver relationship. While there is a general support structure, I tailor the plan to each student’s needs.
Individual coaching starts with an intake process, including interviews with students and parents. We set goals and a meeting schedule. Sessions focus on practicing skills related to these goals through practical application and conversation.
I encourage buy-in to adopt new skills and systems by giving students a voice in what works best for them. While working on a skill or system in a particular area might be non-negotiable, students have a say in what would work best for them. The goal is for students to become independent and empowered, viewing challenges as opportunities and setbacks as chances to reflect and grow.
Students with executive functioning challenges often need ongoing accountability. Coaching includes guiding families to provide support between sessions, with age-appropriate reinforcement serving as scaffolding as autonomy grows.
Coaching is focused on students ages 6th grade and up.
